Junior Classes

Kindergarten - Year 1

SUPERSTAR COMBO

Ballet, Jazz and Tap

Our Superstar Combo program offers three styles of dance – Ballet, Jazz and Tap – in one amazing 90-minute class. The program introduces and develops a strong understanding of technical ability, along with nurturing creativity and imagination. The ballet component follows the Royal Academy of Dance Primary Ballet Syllabus and the tap component follows the Glenn Wood Tap Level 1 Syllabus. There will also be an opportunity for students to participate in the Glenn Wood Tap examinations. 

ACROBATICS

Kindergarten – Year 1

Acrobatics uses strength and flexibility to perform gymnastic-based tricks. In this class, students perform conditioning exercises to prepare them for increased difficulty exercises and acrobatic tricks such as hand stands, cart wheels, aerials, walk overs and much more! Acrobatic Dance, or Acro as it is commonly referred to, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. There will also be an opportunity for students to participate in the Acrobatic Arts examinations which is an incredible, confidence-boosting experience. 

HIP HOP

Kindergarten – Year 1

Hip Hop started in the streets and has now evolved into numerous genres within its own style. Our Hip Hop classes draw from R&B and House to Club and Pop. Classes utilise upbeat music from various genres, in addition to the latest Hip Hop music and moves. This fabulous combination results in an energetic class that not only teaches you Hip Hop skills, movements and technique, but also instils rhythm and precision in your muscle memory. Hip Hop is perfect for dancers who want to keep up with the latest trends and music in the Hip Hop scene.

Musical Theatre

Kindergarten – Year 1

Musical Theatre is a form of theatre that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. Our Musical Theatre classes are filled with fun and creative exploration; focusing on Vocal and Acting Technique along with Dance Performance. Students learn performances from well-known musicals and explore a variety of musical theatre genres, participate in improvisation games and gain confidence in storytelling through song.

Lyrical

Kindergarten – Year 1

Lyrical is a dance style based on the technical foundations of jazz and ballet with a strong emphasis on storytelling. Our Lyrical / Technique dance class uses the focus on ballet and jazz technique to increase our students’ flexibility safely, enhance foundational skills, learn exciting dance tricks and learn beautiful dances that display deep expression, performance and storytelling.

PRE INTERMEDIATE ACADEMY

Our Pre Intermediate Academy is a combination class of Ballet, Jazz and Tap. Our students advance in their training as they develop new techniques, skills, dance exercises and artistry. The ballet component follows the internationally recognised Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus Grades 1 and 2. The tap component follows the esteemed Glenn Wood Tap Syllabus Levels 1 and 2, and students also have the opportunity of participating in Tap examinations. The jazz component focuses on safe dance practice, flexibility, building strong understanding of and ability in jazz technique, along with learning exciting dances that are age appropriate.

INTERMEDIATE ACADEMY

The tap component follows the esteemed Glenn Wood Tap Syllabus Levels 2 and 3, and students also have the opportunity of participating in Tap examinations. The jazz component not only focuses on safe dance practice, flexibility, and building strong ability and understanding of technique, but also focuses on style, cool moves and performance.

BALLET

Pre Intermediate  Year 5 - Year 6

Both our recreational and exam students learn from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Syllabus. This entails a high level of classical technique and artistry. Each grade has a holistic approach to ballet where musicality, strength, performance and grace are nurtured.

JAZZ

Intermediate Year 5 – Year 6

Jazz is a fun, high energy class that teaches strength, technique, confidence and style. We want kids to be kids, hence all our music, movement and routines are age-appropriate and, above all, fun! Classes include warm up, stretch & flexibility followed by technique and travelling work including kicks, turns & leaps. The class finishes with an exciting routine that is built upon each week.

TAP

Intermediate Year 5 – Year 6

Our Tap classes follow the Glenn Wood Tap (GWT) Syllabus – a dynamic, stylised and fun taping syllabus, based on solid tap technique. Glenn Wood Tap explores different sounds, rhythms and styles, using barre work, different combinations, turning exercises and performance quality routines. GWT examinations are offered to all our students. Exams are a wonderful experience allowing students to set goals and reap the rewards of their hard work.

LIL SWAGGERS

Lil Swaggers is a cool, upbeat introduction to the street/hip hop techniques. This class is packed with fun while learning skills to develop agility, rhythm, creativity and swag. Your child’s gross motor skills, coordination, strength, balance and cognition will develop in this energising class. Children will enjoy feeling like a Lil Swagger, learning some cool tricks and moves all in an encouraging and nurturing environment.

TINY TUMBLERS

Tiny Tumblers is a fun Pre School Acrobatics program designed to introduce physical literacy, coordination, creative movement and basic acrobatic skills to children aged three to five years of age. Students learn baby bridges, somersaults, pike position, pre cartwheels and much more - all in a safe and nurturing environment. The program focuses on gross motor and locomotive skills, balancing, acro positions and movement concepts. This is all done through the use of props, imagery, music and a lot of care and encouragement.

Jazz
